2013 Nissan Pathfinder. Hearing grinding noise while

Customer Question

2013 Nissan Pathfinder. Hearing grinding noise while coasting....noise stops when accelerating. Seems when it is parked outside overnight in the cold weather it is worse... My mechanic thought it was a bad ball bearing and changed this out....but noise still there
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: It started all of a sudden when we had the first freezing weather over night. Sound is coming from under the right front of the hood.
JA: Are you fixing your Pathfinder yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: My mechanic replaced the r/f ball bearing... Still hear the noise, but not as loud prior to them replacing the ball bearing
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hello and welcome to just answer.I value your input to my questions so I may help you better. if it just does it on the coast , that sounds more like a gear acting up either in the transmission or differential. Is this an automatic or manual transmission?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
automatic

Thanx for that info.Is it 4wd or just two wheel drive?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
It is 2WD but can be put into 4WD. I have not put it into 4WD to see if the problem persists.
