Nissan Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. lets pull the relay out. put a jumper between the B+ Position and one of the positions with no voltage. if its a 4 position relay. there will be 12vdc on 2 positions with key on. jump from one of them to one of the no voltage positons. see if the compressor kicks on.
keep me posted please. thanks
Yes it kicked on
Yes when I jumped it at relay it engaged
ok. good. please give me a second
now. there should be another relay thats the same right in that area. is there?
yes and ive went and bought a new one and switched them around and still wont kick on
ok let me pull a print on the system
this is a 2000 nissan what? and size engine?
thx it all started out as if the relay was loose so i wedged some elec tape be side it and it worked fine then all of a sudden it stopped , well i removed relay box turned it over removed the female part that the relay goes in squeezed the female connectors a little tighter then replaced all back still no ac clutch engage, only when i jump it out, also checked therm coupl hod constant power on red tried the green ones and it never came on ???
give me a sec
no problem brother
this is a 2000 nissan what? and size engine
xterra 6 cyl
heres a print
what do u think needs to be checked next
the fuses. do you have a meter?
yes ive checked all fuses wth volt meter and multi meter
ok. check the relay for battery power on one of the positions.
i did if you are looking down from passenger fender it has power at the 6 and 9 oclock positions
how many slot on the relay base
like this is the fender
send me a picture
so what controls the relay to close and start the compressor because i can close it manually and it engauges then i release it it is like a set of points
you can engage it with a jumper in the relay?
yes and by closing the relay
ok, let me look to see where it should be getting the power
ok brother can we take this up tomorrow morning i am a disabled vet straight out of the wounded warrior i have to take my meds to help me sleep and am afraid i willcrash pl;ease post what you think i need to check, i thought it might be the pressure switch ?????
ok brother, i will see you tomorrow
thx good luck hunting
have you found anything
how can i check the binary switch on the dryer
its not going to be the presuure switch. the signal to activate the relay comes directly from the ignition switch
what about the ficd solenoid , ive got power on two prongs but doesnt some thing ground to shut the relay to then engauge the compressor ?
i also could hear something click near the center of towards back of intake when i moved the relay before now i dont hear it but the engine kinda sounds like its in a pull when it was clicking but i dont hear it unless i jump it out
the only thing you can do is a continuity test of the complete circuit. jumpering switch and solenoids arent going to do anything for you until you know the wiring is ok.
and thats why you need to check the wiring.
checking in to see how its going
