It will crank over but will not kick in and start. The gas gauge does go up when you turn the key.
JA: Is the car in "Park" or "Neutral?" Do you know if your car has a "wheel lock" feature?
Customer: Yes it is in park and yes it does have a wheel lock feature. But it is not locked up
JA: What is the model/year of your Nissan?
Customer: 2001 Pathfinder
JA: Are you fixing your Pathfinder yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have just tried to start it so far. I have tried to get some help to come out to my house but they never show. So if it is something that is simple, I will fix it

Ok,

Simple method, take some carb cleaner, remove the hose on the throttle body, spray some into the throttle and crank the engine. If you have spark, it will run for a few seconds.

More difficult method, remove one of the coils, and set it next to something metal on the engine, then crank the engine and watch for spark to come out of the ignition coil.
