Nissan Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello and thank you for your question! My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you with your question today.
Does it make any sounds when you try to start it?
It doesn't sound like the smart key is the problem. It sounds like the cars battery is dead. Since you couldn't unlock it with the keyfob and you can't start it, I think the actual car battery is the problem. Try a jump start first. Put the donor car on it for 15 minutes. Make sure you hear the engine on the donor car sort of strain when you connect it to your car, give it 15 minutes then try to start it. From here it sounds like a battery problem, but not the key battery.
Please try this and let me know.
That's ok, what color is the key symbol?
Sorry for the delay, I lost my internet connection. Did you try the jump start?
If it were red, then I would agree. Also, there should be a slot to the left of the steering wheel for you to put the fob in. Put the mechanical key back in the key fob, then put the fob in the slot. If it's the battery in the key fob, the car should start. If the result is the same, get the jump start and have the battery tested.
Ok, I do have to step out for a bit, but post your results here and we can go from there.
I will get your response as soon an I get back online.
