Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

The purge control Solenoid does not have a expected life span. I would start by checking power and ground to the Purge Solenoid by activating it with a scanner. Other wise, the only other times I have seen a Purge issue is when the canister fails and the charcoal pellets fill the evap system so it can't purge. To determine if the canister has failed, remove the Evap lines from the solenoid and shake them. If any little black pellets come out, that is due to the canister failing. At that point the Evap canister would need to be replaced and the Evap lines blown out to get all the pellets out of the system.
