Nissan Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Have you done anything to try and resolve this yet?
Give me just a moment to finish with another customer, I cannot call you at the moment, but we can handle this hear. Generally you should hear the throttle respond when you turn the key on. You do not hear the motor on the throttle working when you do this?
Only if the car is running. You should turn the car off, then wait 10 seconds, and then turn the key on. At that point you should see it move slightly or at least hear it. This isn't something you would see on the computer, or at least according to Nissan this isn't something they give info for. You must do each item in order to get the car to accept the relearn. Timing also has to be spot on. For this reason you will need a watch with a second hand.
I am going to give you the instructions in order. Also, the first steps must be done on a cold engine.
Nissan Relearn1 Perform "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning".A Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.B Turn ignition switches ‘ON’ and waits at least 2 seconds.C Turn ignition switches 'OFF' wait at least 10 seconds.D Turn ignition switches ‘ON’ and waits at least 2 seconds.E Turn ignition switches 'OFF' wait at least 10 seconds.2 Perform "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.A Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.B Turn ignition switches 'ON'.C Turn ignition switches 'OFF' wait at least 10 seconds.Note Make sure that throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.3 Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.4 Turn ignition switches ‘OFF’ and waits at least 10 seconds.5 Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch 'ON' and wait 3 seconds.6 Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.A Fully depress the accelerator pedal.B Fully releases the accelerator pedal.7 Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON.8 Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL goes off.9 Start engine and let it idle.10 Wait 20 seconds.11 Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.12 If idle speed and ignition timing are not within the specification, the result will be incomplete. In this case, more test needs to be done.
So the engine is cold?
It should be cold to do the first 2 steps in the procedure and the car should be together. If you have the hose off the throttle, then it's not going to work.
No, it's part of the throttle body. This is a 3 step procedure,
guess I can't help you.
Sorry for that, but I will open this back up for the other experts. Please DO NOT reply or it will lock it back to me and they won't see it. Again, sorry I wasn't able to help you tonight.
did you say you replaced the throttle body?
ok after replacing the throttle body did you reprogram the computer to the new throttle body?
you responded right before me ok give me a moment
the idle speed is controlled by the throttle body and is not a changeable part.
have you (before performing the above relearn procedure)disconnected the battery and connected the terminals to each other to reset the computer completely?
do this for a min 10 minutes first then reconnect the battery and perform the above relearn procedure.
oh i see so the vehicle is in a shop currently?
