Customer Question

87 Nissan D21, 4 wires go on the positive aspect of the alternator? Have one broken off, didn't see it until after I pulled the alternator

When I pulled those wires from the connection I taped them together so I wouldn't lose track of them. Went to put them on the new alternator and noticed one was broken. Truck was running at 19 volts, blew a headlight, marker light and either a fusible link or the brake light switch.

There are "4", but the "2" White wires go to the same Plug in the Harness Plug downstream

These four wires appear to be grouped together. In order of undoing, undid the actual plug, then the collection of wires, taped off those wires, then undid the ground.

I do not follow what you are saying??
I posted a Wiring Diagram of the Alternator & those are "Factory Colors"

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have my harness plug, then what appears to be four live wires, then the ground wire. When I pulled off the collection of wires from one connection, I thought there was three in the grouping. It appears there was four with the broken one I missed. What I need to know, do three wires attach to that connection or does the fourth wire go elsewhere? The broken wire is black.

did you look at the Diagram I posted?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the diagram is not showing the amount of wires I have going on

IF you have the Factory Wiring & the Original type Alternator, then there is "4" wire that go to the Alternator as posted
B = BLACK wire
W = WHITE (2) wires
YB = YELLOW / BLACK wire
.
On the Alternator Case, you should have Letter Markings
One WHITE wire goes to "S"
The other WHITE wire goes to "B"
The YELLOW / BLACK wire goes to "L"
The BLACK wire goes to "E"
