Does it open using the release inside?

Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Also check your glove box for a Valet Switch, and see if that is On by mistake?

Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Let me know...

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There is no release on the inside on this model....the owners manual does not mention a valet switch in the glove box either.
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

ok, so you don't have the intelligent key system then. Are you pressing and holding the hatch button on the remote for 5 seconds?

If so, do you hear any release type noise?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have not tried holding it for 5 seconds.....I opened it manually by removing the black plastic cover and used a screwdriver.....
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

With the remote, you need to hold the trunk or hatch button for about 5 seconds for it to release. It is designed that way so if you bump the switch it won't open. You have to hold it for 5 seconds for the computer to understand you want it to open.

Give that a try and let me know..

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My key fob only has a lock or unlock...no truck button....it just unlocks it then I open it from the rear using the button under the handle.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
oops..meant trunk not truck....smile
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Ok.. You can open the hatch manually using the emergency release right?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I need to go and open it...but I don't think so....
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Ok.. Please check. That is the Valet switch.

Some times that can get bumped...

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Jay, I don't know how to get you the pic....it couldn't not have got bumped cuz lever is behind a plastic cap...the inside of the cover I removed has what looks to be part numbers or fuse references...is this function fuse driven? I don't have a lot more time to mess with this...
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I am trying to send pics using the add files function....
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

That is the cover for the emergency release, correct? Do you have a picture of the Release area?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Is this the lever you are using to open the hatch?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
BIG PAIN IN THE BUTT
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
there us a button underneath outside handle I usually push....doesn't work....
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Is a button or lever you use to push outside?

Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Does your front passenger door lock work properly by locking and unlocking with the remote?

I know this sounds weird, but the rear hatch get's it's unlock signal from that door.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I believe so, I will check
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

ok

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
first time I press the lock or unlock button the driver side doors unlock...press again..passenger doors unlock (so should trunk)
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

It will unlock the truck actuator so it can be opened. So all we want to check is the passenger door lock with the remote locking and unlocking.. Does it work? Also by checking the door. When it's locked it can't be opened, when its unlocked it opens.

Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

also the gas door lock actuator gets that signal as well.

So when you lock the car, see if you can open the gas door. When unlocked see if you can open it as well

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
there is a manual lever for the gas cover...I don't use the fob at all
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

ok..

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
if I replace the actuator will the trunk work again?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
are you there
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Jay, this has taken more than an hour......I don't see how this is considered helpful or productive....I will just take it to the shopGoodbye
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

Sorry, it takes a while over the computer to determine features you have and features you don't and check certain things to help isolate the issue.

Sorry I couldn't help you.

Thanks Jay!

Expert:  Clifton B. replied 1 year ago.

hi the problem is most likely cause by the passenger side front door actuator the circuit for the hatch run thou that actuator and they go bad just replace the passenger front door actuator this is a very common problem with the hatch back .
