Quest: 2004 Nissan Quest Quest, new alternator (2 years ago)

Customer Question

2004 Nissan Quest Quest, new alternator (2 years ago) after driving for a half hour or so, battery warning light comes on. If I accelerate rapidly the light goes back off. Or if I rev the engine very high (4000 rpm) the light goes back off. With both these tactics, light only stays off for random amount of time. Battery tested OK, Terminals have been cleaned and are tight.

Hi, thanks for using justanswer.com. I'll be glad to help. Unfortunately it sounds like the alternator has gone bad. The voltage regulator is built internally to the alternator has failed. What is going on is when you accelerate te regulator spikes and turns off the battery light. The charging system will need a proper test to verify. Let me know if you need further assistance. If you are satisfied with your answer please rate positive. Thank you.
