My 2009 Nissan Altima won't turn over. I hold down the break and push the button and I hear a quiet click and it goes to ON, at which point all of the service lights illuminate and electrical systems come on but the car won't start.

Yes, the push break direction stays on when i press the break.
did you try to lock the steering wheel can you lock it whit the key outside the car and all doors lock
Yes, I can lock all of the doors from outside the door. I'm not sure what you mean about locking the steering wheel?
just lock the doors then turn the steering wheel it should lock let me know
the steering wheel does not lock. With some effort i can move it in both directions.
ok the problem is the steering lock unit , the unit has gone bad and will need to be replace , it is located under the steering wheel , if you just remove the lower dash cover under the steering wheel you will see the unit bolted to the lower part to the steering shaft ,it is a small sliver looking box with one white electrical connector to it . replace that unit this will fix the problem . and when we are done please remember to rate my answer .
