Jay :

Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer.com

Jay :

Did you replace the MAF sensor with one from your local auto parts store?

Customer : Yeah
Jay :

That is part of the problem

Jay :

After Market MAF sensors never work.

Jay :

I am afraid your going to need to replace the MAF sensor with one from the dealer to resolve your problem.

Customer : So I would have to go spen a couple hundred more for a dea
Customer : Dealer part
Jay :

The reason after market MAF sensors don't work is cause the heated element they use has to much of a wider range of spec which causes 02 sensors to flat line and can continue to cause MAF sensor or rich or lean codes

Jay :

I have proven this to my service manager with a bet

Jay :

5 different MAF sensors from 3 different auto parts store later I was 50 bucks richer

Customer : I don't understand why it woul give the code right away should the ecu go thru some kind of learning after the codes are reset
Jay :

These things are junk..

Jay :

to be honest

Jay :

They have you chasing your tail and changing more parts and spending more money than you actually need to

Jay :

I have changed these things so many times I can't even say.

Jay :

The Ecm can't control the heated element

Jay :

so it can't determine the air and fuel mixture so it either throws a Lean code, Rich code, or simply a MAF sensor code.

Customer : Ok thanks for your help I'm going to try and hit some junk yards to get my hands on a couple of used ones
Jay :

Your welcome, and thank you for using JustAnswer.com

Jay :

Thanks Jay!

Jay :

Don't forget to rate my work. That is how I get credit for this question. If you have any more questions on this topic, you can always return even after you rate me.

Jay :

Thanks Jay!
