When I start the engine, sometimes it sounds like a rod is knocking.
Keeping the oil level where it should be on the dipstick.
Hello, and thank you for letting us help you with your automotive question. I need a little more information from you. Does this only happen during the first start up when the engine is cold? Is it a faint noise or is it pretty loud?
It happens on the first start up and the noise is pretty loud.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get an answer???
Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer.comSorry for the delay in response. This expert has been off line and see your looking for a answer, so I will respond to your question. Once again I apologize. On your noise, most of the time it's not the engine. On the right side of the engine there is a motor mount. When these mounts go bad, it starts off like a knock on start up. Then as the mount gets worse, it will be a slight knock at idle, until it bangs and makes all sorts of racket. So I would have the right side engine mount checked. If broken it would need to be replaced. This is the engine mount that sits on the passenger side of the engine bay.If you have any more questions on this, please feel free to ask. Thanks Jay!
