Hello I'm done with this 1991 Maxima its a 3.0 6 cylinder four door sports edition. It's running really rough at idle in between 500 RPM and 1000 RPM (erratic) I replaced the spark plug's, 1 fuel injector even used a stethoscope and put it on each injector to ensure they were all working, replaced the IACV/AAC unit. I tried adjusting the idle screw, NOTHING. There are no hoses cracked all the lines and hoses are in their correct spot. I tried running a code on the ECU and it did nothing but make it worse. PLEASE HELP!Thanks!

Hi,erratic idle with is normally an air intake leak, vacuum leak, or intake leak. Visual inspection of vacuum hoses will not always reveal a leak in themthe most accurate way to find it is a propane test or smoke test. If you dont have this equipment, then with engine idling, spray the air intake tube with carb cleaner. If idle smoothes out, replace the intake tube. If no difference, then spray each vacuum hose one at a time with carb cleaner. If idle smoothes out when one is sprayed, replace it.If no difference, spray base of intake manifold with carb cleaner. If idle smoothes out, replace intake gasket. If no difference, then injectors need to be pulled and spray pattern checked. clogged injectors will cause erratic idle as well.If ok, then engine compression should be checked for possible sticking or burnt valves. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask for more help by clicking the REPLY TO EXPERT button, otherwise please click the OK SERVICE, GOOD SERVICE OR EXCELLENT SERVICE / 3-5 smiley faces to pay for services rendered per customer agreement as this is a PAYSITE and expert is not paid for their time, knowledge or services until you do so.Please note, your Deposit doesn't constitute a payment. Okay I will try that. the issue I have remaining is the ECU. If your solution fixes my problem will the ECU zero itself out so I can reset it?
Hi,If you find the leak are resolve it, disconnect the battery and touch the battery cable ends together for 30 seconds to reset the ecu, and then reconnect the battery cables to the batteryPlease note, your Deposit doesn't constitute a payment. Okay last question, I think! would you assume.... and I know this is just assuming, but would the throttle positioning sensor be the problem if I have no vacuum leak and no fuel injector issues?
Hi,no, a bad tp sensor would cause stalling out due to low idle or racing due to high idle, but either way, it would be a steady idle, not up and downPlease note, your Deposit doesn't constitute a payment.
