2002 nissan frontier 220,000 miles
V6 3.3 2wd Crew Cab

vehicle jerks and jolts under normal driving conditions. has turned off at the red lights. cranks back up fine. rpms go haywire. slipped it in nuetral and got it up to 5000rpms and held it for a few seconds. seems to have helped temporarily. btw im not pulling any codes at all. the abs light comes on and off but is unrelated to the problem im having now

Already Tried:
timing belt, water pump and thermostat @204k exhaust manifold, spark plugs and wires, new distributer, 4 shocks, knock sensor,new power steering hoses,4 wheel brake job, new valve cover gaskets @210k today @221k new air filter, new fuel filter, fresh oil and filter, sea foam in the gas tank.

hi, this sounds like you have a distributor that is going bad this will cause the problems your having and may not set a code , you should remove the cap and the coil from the distributor and check for broken part in the bottom of the unit . if you see debree replace the unit .

it has a brand new distributer now. its less than 10k miles old. napa brand.

that don't mean its not bad you need to check it please.

i took the distributer apart, didnt notice anything broken or abnormal. it drives somewhat normal until i take it on the highway. after 30 minutes or so the kicking starts. then when i get off the highway and go towards the house it gets really bad. seems like something has to heat up just right?
