I have a 1999 infiniti i30. i was driving it and the temperture needle went up as soon as i turned on the ac. what is the problem and how can i fix it? When I turn on the car and turn the AC on high both fans turn on.
Optional Information: Year: 1999 Make: Infiniti Model: i30 Engine: 3.0 v6
Was there any a/c work done prior to this happening?
No. the car was in a front end collision (minor) and I replaced the bumper reinforcement bar. The AC condesor itself is currently bent a little bit.
Ok if that condenser is bent then the issue is its most likely causing a blockage with the a/c system causing this issue .Does the a/c actually work and cool the vehicle? Also does the vehicle actually over heat or just the gage go up?
I just drove the car 6 miles. 3 miles going there, car sat for 30 minutes and 3 miles coming back home. i noticed the guage slightly rise on the way home. No the AC isn't cooling, it blows hot air.
Ok thats the issue .The condenser is most likely blocked and causing the engine to strain when the a/c is on this will also eventually damage the compressor. So you will need to replace the condenser and make sure they is no harness damage or condenser fan damage then charge the a/c system to fix this issue.Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
