Here is a diagram of the marks

ok i've tried this diagram and i lined up the yellow markings at the top and tighten up everything and when i test it the markings shift over everytime, i have to keep putting them back on the cam markings and it sounds like its free spinning and it won't pick up or sound like its trying to start....is it surpose to do that?....should i go ahead and hook everything up and try to crank it?

You will want to turn it over by hand slowly first before attempting to crank it to make sure there is not an issue. They should all line up a=if installed correctly. If it shifts on you see how much it does and adjust the timing for it. For example if it moves a tooth then back it up a tooth when timing it

what if when u turn it over you get a pop noise threw the intake

Then the valve is open and most likely is out of time

Customer replied 973 days and 1 hours ago.

ok when you put the yellow markings at the top on where they surpose to go and the orange one at the bottom(not the balencer onange marking) is off is that correct??.......and is the orange one at the bottom at 6 o'clock or 5 o'clock or does it really matter where the orange one is???

Does the orange link line up with the mark on the gear?

Customer replied 973 days and 1 hours ago.

the balencer lines up perfect( the one that goes to the oil pump) the one that goes to the cams don't..... if you line up the 2 yellow links on the cams how the diagram has it then the orange link at the bottom doesn't line up with the orange link on the balencer timing chain

It will have to line up or it wont run. How far off is it?

Customer replied 973 days ago.

so its better to have the orange links line up then the yellow links???

Expert:  brownjeff replied 973 days ago.

They all have to line up or it wont be in time

Customer replied 973 days ago.

see thats the problem......if you line up the orange links the yellow ones are off if you line up the yellow links the orange one is off the balencer timing chain is perfect its the cams chain that dont want to act right......

Guess I don't understand why you can't turn them so they do line up?

Customer replied 973 days ago.

if you turn them then they dont look like the diagram

Picture
Expert:  brownjeff replied 973 days ago.

You can't turn them to make the marks line up? Not talking about the picture I sent as I'm wanting to know if you can line up the marks on the cam and the crank at the same time......

Customer replied 973 days ago.

yea i can but if i do that it wont look nothing like the diagram (talking about yellow links) the cams will look lik the diagram and the balencer will look like the diagram, the chain on the balencer will line up...but the yellow links wont line up with the marks on the cams

Can you line up the cams with the crank and the balancer be off?

Customer replied 966 days and 23 hours ago.

the crank and the balencer is perfect its the cams that dont want to line up

Hi my name isXXXXX will answer your question the best I can if I have helped please remember to click ACCEPT

I am going to send you a few pages that have pictures and instructions to putting the timing chains back on , one thing to note is that the intake or the exhaust cam shaft like to jump out of position so you need to have the valve cover off and there is a portion on the cams that you can fit an open end wrench to hold or turn the cams into the correct positions , if you are using genuine Nissan parts the chains should be marked where they line up on the sprockets and that is the most important thing when everything is together all the marked chain links line up on the marks on the sprockets, the sprockets may look to be off a little compared to the diagram . let me know if this helps graphicgraphicgraphic
