I own a 2004 nissan maxima ,logbook says replace timing belt at 100000.Is it a chain or a rubber belt.If its a chain does it need replacement.

You have a chain, I have never replaced a chain unless there was a problem with a guide or tensioner. I would recommend it unless you were having an issue with a noise or major oil leak that required tearing the engine down that far.
