1992 nissan sentra: clutch pedal..sping looks ok.

Resolved Question:

1992 nissan sentra clutch pedal seems weak. Does not come all the way back up. The sping looks ok. If the cable is too worn out will that cause a problem. To engage clutch you have to really push pedal to the floor. The pedal does not have any range. It only has about 1 inch of ingage and not ingaged. Most pedals are tight and seem to start engaging through out the range this one the pedal is almost to the floor to start with and then you push hard and it works. I has adjusted the thumb screw under the hood and that spring is good to go as well.

When was the clutch replaced last?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
probably never. my friend has only had the car for one year. problem started in August and some other person looked at it. The car works and shifts and drives but there is no pedal range to smoothly let the clutch out

Ok this is usually caused by a faulty pressure plate and clutch disc . You need to have this looked at next to see if this is the issue most likely this is the problem. If the pressure plate is worn it will cause this. They need to check this next. Especially if they were never replaced before.
