I just got a 99 Nissan Quest. Just under 100,000 miles. The speedo, tach & cruise just quit working. Also The OD off lite comes on & seems to run using less fuel with the od off. ???

The Nissan quest has had problems with contact between the speedo head, tach and other meter gauges within the instrument clusters. It is likely that new components and or retainers and circuit board may be needed. The exact requirements wil depend on how things look upon disassembly. The cruise issue won't work until your speedometer issue is corrected first. The easiest route to take would be to get a used instrument cluster from a junk yard. By the way the Mercury Villager is the same and will interchange.

Will driving this like this do any damage to the transmission until it's fixed? Also will dissasembly, cleaning do anything. I'm thinking one from a junk yard may be as bad. Having worked at different auto dealers I know a new one would be the way it would be done there, but is this usually the problems solution?? Thanks
If I remember correctly the little metal contacts are replaceable by them selves. However they may or may not still be available from the dealer. They are little metal clips that the contact prongs on the back of each meter snap into. I have also had same success removing the clips carefully and gently spreading theclips so that they contact better. But of course replacement is best. Note however that the dealer does not sell the complete unit assembled, all parts are sold seperately. Considering the three items you listed that are inop, It would certainly be the first area to inspect. As for the transmission the only possible complication may be a hard shift but no mechanical harm would occur as a result of your problem.
