My service engine soon light is on in my 2004 Nissan Frontier.

Resolved Question:

My "service engine soon" light is on in my 2004 Nissan Frontier. The error code I get is P0456 and my book says that there is a small leak in the EVAP system. Can you help me determine what this may be?

Small leak can indicate a faulty Gas Cap, Gas Cap not on tight, vacuum leak, pin hole leak.
Without a Scan Tool, Vacuum Pump & other tools, this may prove to be a tough job.
A Smoke Test may also be needed.

here is Nissan procedure to check :

Is this a "nissan" service problem or can I trouble shoot this on my own. Do I just ignore it and if so, what problems may I encounter if I do not quicky get it repaired?
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 7 years ago.
No you should not ignore it.
If you do not feel comfotable with the procedures I posted, then check the basics:
Gas Cap, Replace Gas Cap, check for cacuum leaks, loose hoses, bad hoses, etc.
Reputable Dealer would probably your quickest & better repair, as this can get complicated & time consuming, if you have never done this type testing
