In reference to the photo, I removed pieces 1 and 2 to remove the old thermostat and install the new one, but I'm unable to get the bolts back on because of other parts in the way. What's the easiest way to gain more access to the area where the bolts need to be attached (what parts would be the easiest to move out of the way and put back in place after the bolts have been re-attached)?

You can remove the fan shroud and fan to get better access to the housing. this will help to get to the bolts they are hard to get to , thanks let me know if you have more questions, ROY!
