how do i replace my 2002 altima exterior door handle? panels and metal interior are off. can't get to the far left bolt?
2002 Nissan altima 2.5
i have interior panels off, metal interior panel off as well. I have the replacement door handle, but don't know how I'm going to get to the bolts and the key mechanism.
3 bolts on the exterior door handle. looking at the handle from inside there are 2 stacked above one another, HOW DO I GET TO RELEASE THOSE? The far right is obvious.
What is involved with the key mechanism, does it clip on into the replacement door handle?
You only need to remove 2 bolts as shown in the diagram. There is a recess for you to insert the tool to remove the bolt.
There is a lock clip for holding the key cylinder.
The first diagram is not of my handle. there are definitely 3 bolts and the wiring looks different than your first diagram. if you have a reg. email address, i'm willing to email you the pic of my replacement door handle.
But, I'm not certified like you are and am willing to take your advice. are you saying that the 3rd bolt (closest to the rear driver side) is just a "dummy" bolt?
No, don't do anything yet till we get the thing clear. If the diagram is different, we might have the wrong vehicle specs.
Can I have the full model description of your vehicle?
Let me check around and see if I can get any info for the description.
You can upload the picture to this post. Sorry, we are not allowed to provide any emails.
I will get back to you on this.
Sorry to say I have to opt out as I am unable to find any diagrams of the type of door handle that you described. Hope some other expert can be of assistance.
