The mass flow sensor has been removed but then what? clean with?? Spray?? Replace?

I would not be able to tell you to "replace", unless I physically see it
Cleaning: Many Auto Parts Stores sell products similar to Spray Carb Cleaner but is for MAF's

Remove & inspect & if looks ok, clean & reinstall
Don't scrub the parts; you may break the wire or damage the plate.
Allow the MAF sensor to dry completely before reinstalling it in the air duct

Otherwise Replace
