Customer Question

2008 Infiniti g37s. When driving on highway in 6th gear and downshifting to 5th gear (going 50mph) the clutch pedal drops to the ground like a loose noodle and I cannot shift to 5th. I then have to pump the clutch pedal to get any 'weight'/firmness back to the clutch.

The clutch also now feels horribly soft when driving regular. This just happened this weekend. any ideas?

ROY :

HI!

ROY :

it sounds like you have a fluid leak in your clutch pedal line or slave cylinder , you will need to have it inspected for leaks and fluid level .

Customer :

c'mon Roy! I'm counting on you!

ROY :

I would start by inspecting fluid level for clutch

Customer :

fluid level is good

ROY :

ok if you can pump it up you must have a leak letting air into the system

Customer :

but that only happens in 6th gear. Other than that, the constant pumping (between gears) keeps the clutch at 'decent' levels.

Customer :

*correction* 6th gear = driving in 6th gear for a few minutes

ROY :

the gear should not matter clutch works or not doesnt know what gear you are in

Customer :

So this is relatively a minor issue?

ROY :

could happen after sitting and will pump back up , I would have system blead out first to check for air in system

Customer :

Sir! you have made me sleep peacefully tonight.

Customer :

Sounds like this is not major issue

ROY :

ok hope this helps , Thank you ROY!

Customer :

Thanks!
