I had money stolen from my room in a flat of 6 people last year. and the person i think it was has evaded question and any type of confrontation. and i just found and have it in writing in txt from his best friend that he in spite let my front motorbike tyre out. all i want is some leverage to make him do a lie detector test. any thoughts?

There is no law which supports the use of a lie detector, which has no place in New Zealand law. So while you can try to trick him into admitting he did something, you would not be able to require him to undergo a test.
