Customer Question

Hi Just under three months ago we bought a rural property. At the time we had a builders report done. We have now found that every soak pit has failed along with the septic! A $24000 job would see it right! The old owners would have been well aware of the problem so what can you do?

Did you ask the builder to check these? If so then he may have to help as he may have been negligent. If however he wasn't asked, then you may need to find out if the previous owners actually knew about these problems but concealed them. If so, that could be a breach of the contract. However you should also have obtained a LIM report about the property, and if this mentioned the problems but you didn't get a report then you may not have a remedy
