Hi, I am an executor in my mother's estate. The legal firm acting in the estate have taken 3 lots of fees from estate funds held in their trust account. They have done this before reporting to me, so I have received the statements in the mail after the date the fees were taken. I thought a client was supposed to receive the invoice prior to fees being deducted, but maybe I'm wrong. Would like to clear this point up though. Also, to date haven't been provided with any break down at all of the work carried out. Look forward to your reply.Alison
Already Tried: Nothing at this point. I'll be meeting with law firm tomorrow.
HiWelcome to JustAnswer. They should have sent you a letter of engagement which sets out the terms of deducting fees from funds held in trust, as they are allowed to do so. the letter of engagement should explain this however. So when you see them ask them to explain this and ensure you have the letter. If you do not have aletter then they must put one in place.
Hi, Thanks for answering my question. I did sign a client information letter so it is quite likely contained in this.
If you look at this it may have the answer, but if you have any questions about this please ask.
Thanks.
