Is name derogatory calling by email and text message an offence under New Zealand law and what if any redress is there available to me. The offender is known to me.
Have tried to reason with the offender but they don't see that they have done anything wrong.
Hi Welcome to JustAnswer. My first response will follow shortly. Please feel free to follow up if anything is not clear
If the caller uses threats or obscene language this may be an offence under the Summary Offences Act. If this continues you could apply to the District Court for orders under the Harassment Act, which would prohibit all contact, and doing so would be an offence.
