Numbness is is my legs and now moving up to my knees, numbness, weakness and difficulty walking steady . My back begins to ache from walking,the strain of trying to walk (it tenses up). I was seen by a neurolgist approx. 8 yrs ago.

Central nerve root compression

You don't mention any bowel or urine problems, but if they are present you need to be evaluated immediately. You will need a MRI of your lower spine and another evaluation by a Neurologist.
