Im a 57 yo female.healthy except borderline high

im a 57 yo female.healthy except borderline high cholesterol. usually run low BP ( 100/50)
sometimes when getting out of bed in the am i get severe knife like pain when my foot and toes touch the ground and i put my body weight on them. if i dangle my foot for 5 min and let the blood flow to my feet i can avoid this severe pain. what can this be caused by?

Hello there

  • This is not VERY UNLIKlEY to be caused by your circulation
  • This is most likely muscle spasms, but could also be Neuropathy (inflammation of the nerves going to your feet)
  • Spasms could be aggravated by electrolytes imbalance (low potassium and Magnesium), or possibly medications you might be taking. You need to check with your family doctor about getting your electrolytes checked.
  • If the tests are fine, then you will need to see a Neurologist for re-evaluation of your nerves and muscles
