Very recently diagnosed with early onset parkinsons at age

Customer Question

very recently diagnosed with early onset parkinsons at age 55 (female). Saw a neurologist, (that took 6 months to get that appt) but have been researching and it seems mostly eveerything I have read recommends seeing a movement disorder neurologist. I have called three this morning and have been told appointments are usually available 4-6 months out! I am freaking out! Any suggestions on gettig seen sooner?

The only way I could suggest from here it to contact the American Academy of Neurology (www.aan.com) and ask for their provider directory which gives subspecialty information for a movement disorder specialist in your area. If you wish to discuss your current medications for parkinson's or any aspect of the disease, like the newer imaging modalities or genetic testing, please get back to me with questions, and I will reply.
