I have had severe pain in both left and right sides of temples

Customer Question

I have had severe pain in both left and right sides of temples for the past year. The veins bulge, swell and hurt even with a slight touch. I have applied ice packs and have taken Benadryl for swelling. What should I do?

This is Dr. David
you need to see a doctor right away about this
you could have something called giant cell arteritis inflammation of the blood vessels of the temple area
which can cause headaches and tenderness of the blood vessels there
a biopsy of the blood vessels there can tell for sure.
do you have a doctor you can see who can check for giant cell arteritis or temperal arteritis?
