Hello. Are you experiencing any cough or shortness of breath?
what were you doing at the time this started?
has anything like this ever happened to you before?
does anything make the pain feel better or worse?
and it's under the scapula? do you mean closer to the lung (i.e. under the surface) or just below the scapula closer to the waistline?
Got it...just wanted to make sure it was not in the region of the kidney in the mid back.
The region you're describing is notorious for rhomboid spasm and trigger points.
Rhomboids are short deep muscles below the trapezius. Spasms can be painful and resistant to meds
I would suggest you ask your family doc or a neurologist to do a "trigger point injection".
needling alone has been shown to be effective...but in adddition, we usually use a local anesthetic or steroid.
lidocaine or a corticosteroid or both
You're welcome. Hope it works.
Most people get good relief.
Physical medicine docs (physiatrists) can do this as well.
