Hello. What is causing your brain compression?
waiting for you to come online...
I FELL WHEN I WAS 19 AND HIT MY HEAD ON CONCRETE.
I HAD A 3 TESILA MRI AT DUKE.
did you have a intracranial bleed? did you have surgery?
NO. I WAS IN THE MILITARY AND THEY INJECTED ME WITH A STRONG ANXIETY MEDICINE. I WAS NOT TOLD THIS AND TRIED TO WAALK BACK TO BARACKS. I KEPT FALLING BECAUSE OF THE MEDICATION. SOMEONE TOOK ME TO MY ROOM AND I SLEPT ALL DAY. NEVER WENT TO HOSPITAL.
I DON'T SEE HOW A INJURY AT 19 COULD SHOW UP WHEN I WAS 55.
MY RIGHT LEG DOES NOT SHAKE WHEN I FALL ASLEEP.
When was your MRI done? What did it show?
DEC, 7-2011 IT SHOWED A LEFT SIDED BRAIN COMPRESSION
IT DID NOT SHOW UP ON A REGULAR MRI.
a compression suggests that something is there that shouldn't be...something pressing on the brain....did they say anything about a mass or a blood clot or extra fluid?
Here is a list of things gamma knife is used for:
Small to medium volume intracranial arteriovenous malformations (AVM)
Skull base tumors
Pineal region tumors
I DID RESERCH THIS ONLINE. I DO NOT HAVE A TUMOR. NO ONE CAN FIQURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. HAVE YOU EVER COME ACROSS THIS BEFORE?
tremor is very very common after 50...there are several different types and origins, some respond to treatment some don
I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT SOUTH CAROLINA UNIVERSITY MOVEMENT DISORDER CLINIC IN CHARLESTON THIS WED.
if the tremor is only on the right and there is an abnormality on MRI on the left, they are probably related...this could happen due to a combination of factors including your remote brain injury.
some tremors respond to a glass of wine or beer...have you tried this along the way? :-)
some respond to anti-seizure medications...have you tried?
EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 40 YEARS AGO? IS IT BECAUSE THE BRAIN SHRINKS AS YOU AGE AND THEN THE INJURY SHOWS UP? GLASS OF WINE HELPS, BUT I TRIED WEED AND IT STOPPPED INSTANTLY.
You will have to use whatever works...just use in moderation. :-)
WELL I HAVE ASTHMA AND SMOKING IS NOT AN OPTION. MARIJWANA-OOPS PILLS ARE HARD TO COME BY.. THE MRI DID SAY I HAD SOME BRAIN SHRINKAGE BUT I NEVER DID DRUGS. I HAVE HAD 3 SPINAL FUSIONS AND CURRENTLY AM COMING OFF FENTENYL PATCH 12 MCG. YOUR FUNNY!!
consider an anti-seizure med if you haven't tried already....topamax, gabapentin, valproate...this can calm the affected nerves down.
DO YOU THINK GAMMA IS STILL AN OPTION?
I would stay away from that...works well for masses, otherwise might make things worse!
THIS SHAKING IS SEVERE AND IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.
have you tried a beta blocker?
atenolol or propranolol?
I AM SO SCARED BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT TO DO WITH ME. NO. MY INTERNIST SAID 5 YEARS AGO THAT HE THOUGHT I HAD ESSENTIAL TREMOR.
NO I HAVE NOT.
you may need to find a combination of approaches..even hypnotherapy helps some with tremors
don't give up until you have tried everything.
a little bit of this and a little bit of that may be what you need...
the goal is suppression and control...complete elimination is probably not possible
I CANNOT EVEN DRIVE BECAUSE MY RIGHT LEG JERKS THE GAS PEDAL. MY SPOUSE SAID I SHOULD GET A JOB MAKING MILKSHAKES.
talk about funny :-)
THE PARKINSON'S MEDS DID WORK UNTIL 1 MONTH AGO.
too bad humor is not the "best medicine" for tremor.
try a beta blocker like propranolol and an anti-seizure med like gabentin...both safe and effective in many
WELL I JUST WISH IT WOULD GO AWAY. IT IS EMBARRASSING FOR ME. OK.
keep the faith. keep looking under every rock.
hope all works out for the best.
I ALSO HAVE RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME AND JUST WENT OFF DEPRESSION MED AND IT STOPPED.
THANK YOU BOB.
you're welcome. god bless you.
DR BOB: WENT TO NEURO VA IN CHARLESTON, SC. SHE THINKS I MIGHT HAVE A VERY MILD FORM OF PARKINSON'S AND I AM WEENING OFF MEDS. AFTER 5 NEUROLOGIST AND 7 YEARS OF THIS HERE WE GO AGAIN. MY PAIN MANAGEMENT DR. AGREES WITH YOU, THAT I SHOULD TRY ANTI SEIZURE MED'S. HE SAID I MIGHT HAVE BOXER'S SYNDROME (DO NOT KNOW MEDICAL TERM).HE HAS SEEN ME EVERY 3 MONTHS FOR 7 YRS. I ALSO HAVE RIGHT LEG NERVE DAMAGE FROM DELAYED BACK SURGERY.
WHEN I TAKE 2 MUSCLE RELAXERS AND SOMA/CODEINE IT CALMS THE TREMOR'S DOWN.
