Did the knee improve between June and October?
yes, I was making what I thought was very good progress -- really been last 2 weeks or so that things "seem" to change
I have also continued w/the home exercises that my PT gave me
You likely re-injured the knee.
It may be a relatively small injury, but the knee would not be expected to recover from it in a normal way and a normal timeframe.
Should I push this issue w/the surgeon?
It's certainly possible you re-injured the meninscus and this is why the knee is locking and giving again, so an exam would be helpful. But he is unlikely to do anything about it right away anyway.
so it is a wait and see
He might brace the knee to rest the joint and prescribe anti-inflammatories, but he would want to see you again after a few more weeks to see if things settle down on their own.
He might want to apirate fluid from the knee and/or inject it with a corticosteroid. He might also want another MRI to see if another surgery is needed, but probably not right away.
You're welcome. This is probably a temporary setback. Rest it as much as possible and take anti-inflammatories if tolerated, and call your doc for a re-eval in case it does not improve over the next couple weeks.
Thanks so much
