Hi, this is Neuro Doctor, an American Board Certified Neurologist with vast clinical experience, and I am very glad to help you with your question.
How long this has been going on?
the last 3 weeks
Okay I see
Does it happen only during scratching?
if I do it gently and if I rub my hands on something
Do you have other symptoms like muscle weakness in the arms or lergs?
im not sure if my muscles are really tight there because iv been having really bad anxiety after birth of my baby
Legs I meant, sorry typo
no weakness but muscle spasms
Okay I got it
mainly in hands and feet
You mean to say scratching mainly the hands or legs?
no the muscle spasms are in the feet
How long you have the muscle spasms?
its if I rub my on anything
also 3 weeks
Okay, and when did you have the baby?
These symptoms started after the delivery?
5 weeks post partum
Okay I got it, I will explain now.
This type of symptom is unlikely anything neurological
This is most likely related to anxiety
Nothing serious is going on
for the muscle spasms you may get your blood electrolytes checked
so when I touch something and feel tingling in the vagina is just anxiety ?
calcium, phosphorous, magnesium etc
is there any reason why it would do that ?
This is the most likely possibility
I was worried that I may have pedendal nerve damage
anxiety can cause any type of symptom
that is unlikely
but I don't have any pain but I did have vaginal pain which I think it my pelvic floor tightened up
scratching elsewhere should not cause these symptoms in the vaginal area
pudendal nerve damage will cause lot more and severe symptoms
I also feel sensitivity to heat and cold
you do not have pudendal nerve damage
in my hands when I touch someone it feels really hot and I start getting tightness in my stomache
for hand & feet symptoms (the spasms( you need blood electrolytes checked
I was getting bad muscle spasms in the vagina and it caused me to really panic after that it all got worse so im not sure If I just got myself into an anxiety state
the heat & cold sensitivity may be from anxiety too
this is most likely related to anxiety, triggered from vaginal spasm/vaginal pain
you can get this checked with your clinic Dr, but these symptoms all mostly from anxiety
I think my anxiety caused my pelvic floor to tighten and spasm and now it wont stop
well I started Zoloft two days ago but I hate meds
Yes, I agree
You need to undergo anxiety management
you may try counseling/therapy
like a therapist?
there are no side effects of med
avoid meds if possible
especially if you are nursing the baby
so I shouldn't take the Zoloft ? I feel its making my anxiety worse and last night I took Ativan that my dr gave me and I felt like I couldn't talk and it really scared me
i knew what i wanted to say but i couldn't speak
Avoid meds especially if you are nursing the baby
you have lots of anxiety
see a therapist
i stopped nursing so i could take meds
other non-med options are biofeedback
how would i get biofeedback done
your primary doctor needs to refer you
to nearby biofeedback specialist
okay if you stopped nursing
then you can try meds
ok you have been such a great help my anxiety and panic has been really bad since the baby
try different meds
stop the current ones
both work for anxiety and panic attacks
the dr told me that Zoloft will kick in soon
you may wait on zoloft too
sometimes it takes time for meds like zoloft to start helping
ok so i shouldn't get a conduction test on my nerves and you defiantly don't think its my pedendal nerve
even though i did have slight vaginal pain when sitting
I am not at all suspecting pudendal nerve damage
you do not need nerve test (EMG test)
it worried me because i had pain when sitting for a few days
This is anxiety related
I am not suspecting nerve damage
you can still try to get nerve test
if you wish
but i am not suspecting nerve damage
Do you have further questions?
ok so perineum pain is prob pelvic floor tightness from stress ?
from anxiety and stress can do this
ok thank you
You are very welcome!
All the best!
i will get some therapy and try to ignore my vaginal tingling lol
