Ask a Neurologist. Get Answers to Your Neurology Questions.
Hi, this is Neuro Doctor, an American Board Certified Neurologist with vast clinical experience, and I am very glad to help you with your question.
Did she have her Vitamin B12 checked?
Okay then checking B12 blood level is needed too
because B12 deficiency too can cause balance issues
what will that tell us?
If she has deficiency it can cause balance issues
I see you are suspecting pinched nerve
would that also cause double vision? the only reason we are suspecting a pinched nerve is because the dr. I took her to yesterday (nose, throat, ear) said maybe pinched nerve because she has fallen several times.
Pinched nerve in what area are you suspecting?
I don't know. I was just asking.
Pinched nerve is very less likely to cause her these symptoms
spinal problems can cause
if there is injury to spinal cord
could she be out of line in her spine?
it can cause balance issues, falls etc
but it cannot cause double vision
does she have back pain?
okay then pinched nerve very less likely
but spine problens can cause it
spine problems without pinched nerve
she needs a scan of the spine
what would you suggest we do? she lives alone.
MRI of spine
to look at spinal cord
MRI of spine, Vit B12 blood test
is double vision continuous or on and off?
Are you facing technical problems in typing your reply?
what would you suggest at this point
I asked a question above
ok what would you suggest at this point
about her double vision
her double vision is on at this point They told her a nerve in her left eye is now working with the others. Should go away.
Okay I see
I will now explain the management plan
She needs to see a neurologist
Would you suggest she she a Neuro Dr. locally?
she also needs investigations like MRI of the spine & Vit B12 level
seeing a local neurologist is fine
she needs neurological clinical examination followed by above tests
ok, Thank you very much for your time and info.
You are very welcome!
I hope she recovers quickly and completely, all the best!
