I am 36 years old. Male. I had surgery on 13 December 2012. I broke my leg and tore ligaments in my ankle. I had surgery to repair the ligaments and a metal plate with screws were inserted on the broken bone. I am scheduled to fly to Kwa Zulu Natal (45 minute flight) on 27 December. I want to know if it is safe for me to fly so soon after having surgery?Thank you ever so much....

In general, that type of surgery should be OK.

There are certain conditions which would be of concern, such as:

brain surgery
heart surgery
recent stroke, heart attack

But a short flight for this type of surgery should be OK, as long as you are healing well from the surgery.
