Customer Question

Hello, I am a 20 yo male that has had a constant daily headache for the past 5 mos. As of 3 weeks ago I started having right hand cramps along with severe upper back spasms that send shooting pains into my head and my right arm became numb and weak. These spasms occur mostly while im asleep. I also feel occasional dripping sensations in my face and head. Yesterday after a muscle spasm my spine felt like it was on fire I also felt coldness in certain spots. Once when I pressed on the top right side of my head it triggered a muscle spasm. I dont have any medical insurance, but I need some advice. Im worried.

Doctor-Bob :

Hello. Don't worry. These kinds of symptoms are very common. We can try to sort them out. Have you been taking a painkiller every day for your headaches? Do the headaches come and go?

1- any nausea?

2- bright light and sound sensitivity?

3- is the headache on one side? which side?

4- is your R arm still numb and weak?CaliforniaMD41083.0517869213

Customer replied 322 days and 10 hours ago.

Hello, I'm not having any nausea, no light sensitivity, the headache is all over my head and down my neck and back. My right arm is no longer numb, but it tingles and my hand is still cramping. Today, I feel heat sensations in my head and occasionally see small balls of light, like a flashlight turning on and off

it sounds like you have a pinched nerve in the neck. the headache, while, it's not causing it it's being aggravated by the neck problem.

it sounds like a tension-type headache (TTH).

you probably need a preventative headache medication if it's not letting up but you equally important is to consider a cervical spine MRI to rule out pinched nerves.

now, could your arm numbness and tingling and weakness be due to a demyelination condition like MS? it could.

the first step is to see a neurologist for a comprehensive examination -- there is no substitute for that. then testing can be guided by exam findings.
