Hello. How long have you had this? Is there any numbness, tingling, or burning sensation in the outer thigh area? Any rash present?

Customer replied 348 days and 11 hours ago.

Does it hurt more when you are standing or walking? Does it hurt more if you try to cross your legs, like sitting in a yoga position for example?

Customer replied 348 days and 11 hours ago.

It mainly aches at night, late or in the middle of the night. No, it does not hurt when in sitting position, sometime after standing for a very long time but not often. It aches while lying down mostly at night.

Based on the location and character of the pain, it sounds like you have trochanteric bursitis. This is a painful inflammation of the sac surrounding the upper thigh bone, near the hip joint. It is a common place for irritation and inflammation. It often hurts more at the end of the day or when stretched. It can get stiff with rest, and loosen up with activity.

Trochanteric bursitis usually responds well to rest, ice 3x per day (10-15 min) and anti-inflammatory medications such as Motrin or Alleve. If it doesn't improve within a few weeks, or if it worsens steadily you should have the area examined by your family doctor.
