Hi, this is Dr Sathya. Thanks for your question and I am very glad to help you.

I see that you have tried different things for your insomnia including good sleep hygiene, avoiding caffeine, kalms tablets etc but in vain.

There are plenty of medication options available too for insomnia treatment however they work great usually on a short term basis but not if there is a long history of insomnia (chronic insomnia) like in your case, so it is better to use non-medication options that are available (they are mentioned below later).

The medications that help with insomnia are grouped as below:

Allopathic medications like;

Pregabalin

Gabapentin

Zolpidem

Zopiclone

Eszopiclone

Lunesta

Benadryl

Clonazepam etc

The non-allopathic/over the counter medications like;

Melatonin etc

Alternative/complementary medicine options/non-medication options like;

Hypnotherapy

Acupuncture

Biofeedback

Yogas/Meditations etc

Another wonderful option for insomnia, especially for chronic or long standing insomnia like you are having is behavioral therapy and it is considered as the best treatment, because its effects are long lasting as well as there are no side effects related to the medications.

Please go through the following article to learn more about the behavioral therapy for insomnia;

Hope one of the above treatments will help you with your bothersome insomnia condition.

Please ask me if there are any further questions.

Thanks for the waiting!

All the best!

Best regards,

Dr Sathya.
