Customer Question

I have a Samick Baby Grand. The finish is polished wood, I was told it was mohogany and in excellent condition. I don't know where to find the model# XXXXX serial#. Based on information from the previous owner, it was purchased in the mid 90's. Its approximately 5 feet 1 inch. What could I get for it? Thank you!

I found the model# XXXXX and Serial# XXXXX

Optional Information:
Item's Current Condition: Excellent. It just needs to be tuned.
Type of Valuation: Retail
Estimated or Previously Appraised Value: $5000
What have you tried so far?: I have gone online to craigs list to price it, but prices vary widely. I paid $5000 for it 3 years ago from a private party. But I never had it appraised. Don't know if that was a fair price.

Hi, thanks for your question!

This piano retails new for about $11,000 so considering approximately 15-17 years of depreciation it would have a current value of approximately $5,100-$5,600 in a private sale. This assumes the excellent condition you describe. That price range may vary if there are any issues with condition or you are selling in a smaller market. Best wishes!

Can you tell by the serial number if it is indeed mahogany? I was told by previous owner that it was, however, I realize there is a Rosewood finish available on Samick Pianos. Also, can you tell the year it was manufactured by the serial number?

Thank you!

Sorry, the serial number will only tell the age, no other information. You may be able to contact Samick directly to see if they have further info based on the serial. Your piano was built in 1992. Based on that change I would change the value range to $4,600-$5,100. Best wishes!
