ii had a 1976 gibson excellent condition. deep red or wine color hollow body that i had received from my brothers estate around 20 years ago. he played it for aprox 2 years then put it into storage. he told me it was one of only about 200 made that year. I wasnt really sure if he was kidding or for real. I probably played it 40 or 50 times and really loved that guitar. I have several other guitars ( goya, yamaha, fender) that i play now. My house was broken into and the gibson guitar was stolen and and old tube harmony amp. i am now dealing with insurance co on value of this guitar and do not have a clue as to its value. I never wrote down serial number but I am pretty sure it had a manufacture number that said ES-355 on it and on the top of the neck it had a little bell like logo that said stereo in it. can you give me any help on what aprox value would be?
Already Tried: nothing you are the first web site I came across
Hi I believe that you are describing a Gibson Es-335 this is the BB King "Lucile" guitar.
Here is a photo let me know if this is it and the approx. age yours was.
mine was a 1976 year made , where the bell shape is in top of the neck mine had stereo written in it and where strings attach on guitar body there was a silver plate that said gibson on it and it went from strings to end of body
Hi,
Your right it is a Gibson ES-355. These have exactly all of the things that you have described, including "Stereo", These sell at auction and on ebay for $2500-3500, Retail Replacement Value (Insurance value) is $5000. Here is a photo of a 1960 model that is very close to your description. Except this one doesn't say stereo on the nut plate at the head stock.
