I recently had an accident with my 2006 Hyosung GV650

Customer Question

Hi there! I recently had an accident with my 2006 Hyosung GV650 Aquilla. Sent it for repairs & a major service. The ignition coil keeps burning out and the mechanic can't find the reason. Do you have any suggestions please?
JA: Have you checked the battery lately?
Customer: Yip. The battery is fine. Engine turns but won't start.
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: It's a 2006 Hyosung GV650 Aquilla motorcycle.
JA: Are you fixing your bike yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Had the bike fixed by a motorcycle mechanic but he can't find the reason for the ignition coil's burnout problem.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thanks, ***** ***** only problem.

Hi and welcome to the site, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, which ignition coil; for the front cylinder? ...or the rear?

Still, both ignition coils receive IGN+12V through an orange/black wire from the Engine STOP/RUN switch. Then each ignition coil is driven by a switch to ground pulsating signal from the ECU.

If a coil keeps burning, then a likely possibility is that the ECU is faulty and sending continuous signals to the ignition coil rather than in pulses.
