Have 2005 Heritage softtail that sat during summer due to extreme heat. Went to start and battery is fine and when press start I get a clicking/grinding sound and it won't turn over.

your symptoms indicate a bad battery.

it is easy enough to determine. measure the battery voltage under the following conditions:

- ignition OFF.

- ignition ON.

- with the start button depressed.
