Customer Question

1998 Sportsman 500. Replaced the carb due to leaking. New carb now. Jets are same as old carb which ran great except for the leakage. I even put the old carb back on and it does the same thing. Did change the diaphragm which stopped the leakage. Now with new or old carb it idles fine but spits and sputters and sometimes dies when given fuel. Sometimes you can get past this point then it will run like a new one. New plug and wire and cap for plug seems fine. This did not start until I changed the carb.

Hi, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, have you tried checking if the air box/filter was re-installed correctly?
