Customer Question

2007 Yamaha grizzly 700
Hi, can ride quad for about 15-30 minutes while cold depending on how hard it works then will start coughing and spluttering and cut out. With big back fires as well. Will start straight away and go but will do same symptoms again. And you have to feather throttle back and forth while riding to get w burst out of it to try and get anywhere and backfiring a lot while doing so.. Bike has been rebuilt and valves checked, new fuel filter inside tank, new breather valve for tank. Brand new spark plug and still does it. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Hi Josh and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, proposed preliminary tries (if have not been done and even if just to eliminate it as a suspect) would be to check the charging voltage:

  • • when starting ~ 11.0V ;
  • • during idling 12.7V;
  • • when attempting to rev not to exceed 14.5V.

And please check the spark plug burn color.
