Men, i have a 2011 HD super glide that because of a bad back

Customer Question

Hi men, i have a 2011 HD super glide that because of a bad back I lay down on its left side while it was running and it shut down. Once righted I let it set for an hour and tried to start. It cranked over and backfired. After that it won't start. I thought it may be the bank angle sensor but it cranked once so would it be ? So you know when I try to start it I turn key on, push run and hear fuel pump, then push start and hear a single click. If it were the BAS would I hear fuel pump or the click ? Also I checked for error codes and their are none. Well that's as far as I am so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Tom.

a backfire on starting usually indicates low battery voltage.

a single click while starting usually indicates a dead battery.

measure the battery voltage under the following conditions:

- ignition OFF.

- ignition ON.

- with the start button depressed.

tell me what you find.

Hi Steve, I checked battery and its fully charged all around. I bought it new this year anyway. I feel like I'm over looking something simple, so I was hoping that was it. Any other thoughts ?

Key off 12.48
Key on 12.16
Start button pressed 12.14

the start button is not causing the starter motor to energize.

- check for battery voltage on the tan wire connected to the spade terminal on the solenoid while holding the start button.

- IF you see battery voltage, the starter motor assembly is bad. the problem may be the solenoid and/or the starter motor itself, or both.

- IF you do NOT see battery voltage, the starter RELAY should be replaced.

let me know if you need more help.
