solenoid spins, plunger does not kick in starter gear,
Expert:  Steve replied 4 months ago.

the solenoid doesn't spin. there isn't any way for it to spin.

it's bolted on.

it can't move.

do you have a real problem or not?

tell me everything you can.

i rebuilt the starter solenoid, placed the starter back on the bike and the starter and it still won't start
Expert:  Steve replied 4 months ago.

what does that mean "still won't start"?

- does the starter spin?

- does the starter turn the engine over?

tell me everything you can.

the bike won't start yes the starter spins but the solenoid plunger does not kick in the starter gear to turn over the engine
Expert:  Steve replied 4 months ago.

the solenoid CANNOT energize the starter motor until it is fully extended.

once it is fully extended, it engages the starter pinion gear and energizes the starter.

if the starter is running, it is engaged.

if not, you did not install the components correctly.

refer to you HD factory service manual and inspect the installation for mistakes.

let me know if you need more help.
