My name is ***** ***** have a 1998 road king classic, fuel injected.

Customer Question

hi my name is ***** ***** have a 1998 road king classic, fuel injected. the fuel pump doesn't power up when the ignition is turned on. There is .014 volts on the wire (yellow/Green) that connects to spade connector on top of the top plate when the ignition switch is turned to the on position. The bike has has a new battery.

the fuel pump, coil and injectors are all powered off that yellow/green wire. it gets power from the fuel system relay and fuel system, 15A fuse under the right side cover.

- replace the fuse.

- verify the relay pulls in when you first turn the ignition on.

- the system only has power for the first few seconds after the ignition is turned on, then it turns off until you press the start button.

let me know if you need more help.

You didn't say where the ' fuel system relay is located' never heard of a relay dedicated to a fuel system?
Expert:  Steve replied 10 months ago.

that is INCORRECT.

from my answer above "....15A fuse under the right side cover."

you will also find a 5A ECM fuse and ECM relay. a relay dedicated to the ECM.

the relays are interchangeable. the fuses are not.
